Our story is all about caring

Unite Healthcare is a family-run home care provider based in Rainhill, St Helens, built on personal experience, strong values, and a genuine commitment to high-quality care.

The company was founded in late 2012 by Daniel and Claire Butler after they faced significant challenges finding appropriate care for their son. Navigating the care system as parents gave them first-hand insight into how stressful, confusing, and overwhelming it can be for families who need support. Rather than accepting these challenges, Daniel and Claire were inspired to create a care service that truly understands the needs of individuals and families.

From the beginning, their aim was simple: to provide safe, reliable, and compassionate care that people could trust. Unite Healthcare was established to support individuals to remain in their own homes with dignity and independence, while also helping to ease the emotional and practical pressures often experienced by families and carers.

For over ten years, Unite Healthcare has been delivering personalised home care services across the local community. During this time, the organisation has built an excellent reputation for quality, consistency, and professionalism. This is reflected in long-standing relationships with clients, positive feedback from families, and a dedicated, well-supported staff team.

Today, Unite Healthcare continues to be guided by the same family values it was founded on—putting people first, listening carefully, and delivering care with compassion, respect, and integrity.

One care team, caring like a family

At Unite Healthcare, being “like a family” is more than just words — it is at the heart of who we are and how we work. As a family-owned organisation, we understand the importance of trust, compassion, and genuine relationships. We care for families, we support families, and we treat one another with the same kindness, respect, and understanding we would expect for our own loved ones. We listen to one another, value every voice, and actively encourage ideas that help us grow and improve together. Our mission is to enrich lives and support independence — not only for the people we care for, but also for the dedicated team who deliver that care every day.

The quality of our care begins with our Homecare Assistants. We are deeply committed to ensuring that the people who support our service users are skilled, respectful, empathetic, and professional. Every applicant is carefully and rigorously screened to ensure they are suited to the role. This includes a thorough application and interview process, followed by comprehensive pre-employment checks such as verified employment references and an enhanced DBS check. This careful approach helps families feel confident that their care is delivered by people they can trust.

Before joining our care team, new staff complete a comprehensive training and mentoring programme designed to build confidence and competence. This includes a blend of e-learning and classroom-based training, followed by supported shadow shifts alongside experienced Homecare Assistants. This ensures new team members feel fully prepared, supported, and comfortable before working independently, while also allowing them to build meaningful relationships with the people they support.

As a growing service, Unite Healthcare offers real opportunities for development and progression. We actively encourage our staff to build their skills, gain new qualifications, and grow their careers with us. By investing in our team, we ensure that the care we provide remains compassionate, consistent, and of the highest quality — creating reassurance for families and a fulfilling, supported workplace for our staff.

Care Quality Commission

Our Commitment to Quality and CQC Standards

Unite Healthcare Ltd is a registered care provider with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), registration number 1-518855288. We are proud to have been rated “Good” in all areas at our most recent CQC inspection in October 2020, with an overall rating of “Good”. This rating reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering care that is safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well led.

For individuals and families choosing care, our CQC rating offers reassurance that the support we provide meets nationally recognised standards for quality and safety. It demonstrates that our care is carefully monitored, well managed, and delivered in line with the key requirements set out by the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

Why CQC Registration Matters

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent body responsible for regulating health and social care services in England. Their role is to ensure services meet essential standards of quality and safety by carrying out regular monitoring and inspections. Services are assessed against five key areas: whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. Following inspection, CQC publishes detailed reports and ratings to help people make informed decisions when choosing a care provider.

CQC has strong powers to act if services do not meet required standards. These can include issuing warnings, requiring improvements, imposing restrictions, or, in serious cases, removing a provider’s registration. This robust oversight helps protect people who use care services and promotes continuous improvement across the sector.

Choosing a Registered Provider

Not all care providers are required to be registered with the CQC. Providers who are not registered are not held to the same fundamental standards and are not subject to independent inspection or ratings. For peace of mind, we encourage anyone considering care to ask providers for a copy of their latest CQC report or to search for them directly on the CQC website.

At Unite Healthcare, we welcome this transparency. Our CQC registration and rating provide reassurance that care is delivered by a provider that is accountable, regulated, and committed to maintaining high standards — giving families confidence that their care is in safe, professional, and caring hands.
